Friday June 15 – Saturday
June 16 1990 Our Dance Among the Blue Hairs
Megs came and picked me up
around lunchtime. We ate, drank coffee
and hung out at the Junction before heading back to Joliet. Her mom is still in Europe and we enjoyed
having the house to ourselves for another weekend. Stayed in, watched tv and watched Megs get
very sleepy on Friday night.
I actually talked to Mrs.
Zupec on Saturday morning. Megs was
still out of it and I couldn’t get her to the phone. I may or may not have mentioned before that
nothing shocks Mrs. Zupec, but believe me, me being here early on a Saturday
means less than nothing to her. I think
even she has some idea what’s going on with her kid and is probably glad
someone is here with her.
We had a nice conversation. She’s in Postojna and is visiting all the
relatives over there. She mentioned that
she’s run into some Posegas over there as well.
That’s not surprising to me. I
always think you can’t swing a stick in certain parts of Slovenia and not hit a
drunken Posega.
Just as long as no one comes
over here and hits me with a stick, I’m cool with that.
Saturday evening Megs and I
went to see some live big band music at Bicentennial Park. I’m sure we were the youngest people on the
dance floor by thirty years. The band
played “Always” and we danced among the blue hairs.
Not for just an hour
Not for just a day
Not for just a year
But always
